How long will it take to melt contest?

Yes, that’s right I’m having a “How long will it take to melt?” contest!

See this dirty, grimy pile of snow?

The truck is an S-10 pickup truck if that gives you a perspective on the size.  This pile, located outside of the building I work in is at least 10 – 12 feet shorter than it initially was plus it stretched to the light pole.

The ultimate question is…how many Northern Illinois Spring days will it take to melt it completely?  The last few days have been nice and sunny with temps in the 50’s but it still dips down to below freezing at night.  And you never know, we could even have more snow yet which would add to it or days of warm rain that would melt it faster.

Are you willing to take a guess?  There just might be a prize involved for the winner.  Of course, we don’t have a correct answer yet.  We won’t until the pile is melted.  But that’s okay because I haven’t thought of a prize yet either!

So, come on and play along, will you?  To enter, just leave a comment with the date that you think the pile will be totally gone.  It’s that simple!

Ready, set, go!

  1. March 29th. But if it rains, I'll give it a week!

  2. I looked at your picture and thought it was sand! I'm going to guess April 1st!

  3. I'm going with April 15th : )

  4. I'm choosing April 9th. It's my dad's birthday. lol. Please post pics of it now and then so we can see the progress. :) Blessings, SusanD

  5. I'll go with April daughter's i don't think winters over yet....!!

  6. I'm gonna say April 1st, that's right aprail fool's day. I don't know about your area, but here in Mid-Mo the Farmer's Almanac is calling for the biggest snow this winter to arrive the last week of March! Bring it on Ms Nature!!!

  7. I'm guessing March 24 cause it sure looks like we could get that rain the weathermen keeps taking about. Our backyard ground cover, which is usually the last to go, is now gonel Happy Spring!

  8. How about APril 20th.

Would you believe it was 93 degrees here yesterday? My arms got pink from being out there. Felt SOOOOOOO good to be warm.

  9. April 10. No special reason. :) blessings, marlene

  10. I am going with April 3. No reason behind just thinking maybe the April showers will come and the snow will be gone! Blessings!

  11. My vote is April 2 but I'm hesitating knowing we have rain due this week.

JP has commented on the snow piles. He hopes they are gone soon and free up some close parking places in his lots.

I just checked with Phil. His vote is March 25.
