Loss of privacy

There are cornfields on two sides of our home which affords a nice amount of privacy, but alas, that privacy is always fleeting.

When I got home from work tonight, our natural fence on the south side of the yard was coming down.

However, there is something about watching a combine harvest and smelling the smells; the smell of corn husks and diesel fuel mixing that I absolutely love!
I know, I know, I'm a strange one and never professed not to be.

  1. I'd probably agree with you, but the smell of diesel gives me an instant, huge headache, however, I do like the smell of gasoline. I'm weird!

  2. Oh no, Lori, its not strange at all. We pull over to watch the harvest all the time. It is beautiful! The cycle of life all viewed through a farmer's field. Its very beautiful!

  3. Your view is looking a whole lot like the one we have to the east. When we gone a recent weekend they harvested and we came home to 'no more fence'. The aggravating part is the quite distracting noise from what I believe is a dryer in the silo or whatever it is. I'll be glad when that ends.

Nice blog and now that I've found you I'll come back to read more.

  4. I LOVE THIS....these pictures are home to me. The Farmer and I love the endless miles of cornfields. And your' right the smell is fabulous. I know you're longing to move the mountains and the Farmer and I actually have a mountaintop lot. We've discussed how much we will miss the endless corn and soybean fields. It's home.
